Whether you’re embracing the eerie history of Huron County, dressing up in a boo-tiful costume, sharing your creativity with pumpkin carving, or indulging in delicious Halloween treats, there’s no shortage of unique experiences to make your October a total scream.  

Is this place haunted? Decide for yourself! A rare chance to visit the Huron Historic Gaol after dark for a Ghost Tour.

This guided tour shines a flashlight into the dark corners of local history. Staff share the true stories of the prisoners and staff who died inside the gaol’s walls, as well as the circumstances that landed criminals, vagrants and ‘lunatics’ behind bars. Explore over 180 years of Huron County history through the tragic and sometimes strange tales of the men, women, and children who lived and died at this national historic site. Also happening is a Pop-up Boo-tique featuring a unique vendor each week selling mystical merch and services including astrology and tarot card readings.

Join local author David Yates on October 9th at the Goderich Library Branch as he delves into the fascinating and eerie history of Huron County with tales from his latest book, Gothic Huron: Heroes, Rogues, Murders, Daring, Bawdy Houses and Other Tales. This engaging session will transport you to a time of intrigue and adventure, revealing the darker side of the county’s past.

October in Exeter will be a monster mash of goblins and ghouls! Enter your family, business, or individual creatively carved pumpkin in the Exeter Jack-o-lantern Jamboree on Friday, October 25th. On Saturday, October 26th is the annual Halloween Parade at the Exeter Villa – Retirement Living and Long Term Care. On Halloween Night the Cultural Collective is heading out door to door to collect for the Exeter Community Food Bank. Three chances for Halloween-style fun right here in Exeter. All are welcome to take part.

As darkness approaches on the evening of October 26th be spooked at the Bad Apple Brewing Haunted Orchard Trail. Enjoy a haunted adventure filled with ghouls, goblins, ghosts, and many other scary creatures.

Take a stroll along The Great Pumpkin Trail and feast your eyes on a display of creatively carved pumpkins. New this year, prepare for an exhilarating addition to the festivities – the spine-tingling, spooky haunted Roundhouse! A must-attend event happening October 27th in Seaforth.

The Goderich BIA SPOOKTACULAR Halloween Walk is especially designed for the little ones and families with younger children. The walk happens from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm in downtown Goderich on October 31 Halloween day. Come downtown for a visit and a treat with participating merchants in the downtown BIA district. You will be greeted with a Halloween smile and a treat or two. Ghosts and goblins must be accompanied by an adult. 

On October 31st the Huron County Museum invites you to stop in for a visit while you’re out trick or treating. Costumed guests will enjoy ringing the ghost train bell on Huron’s haunted indoor Main Street. They are also welcome to enjoy apple cider and candy sticks on the way out.
