More immigrants live in South Huron than any other municipality in Huron County, with 775 people recorded in the 2021 Census.
Community organizations, newcomers, faith-based groups, businesses, service providers and other community members are invited to join the Municipality of South Huron and the Huron County Immigration Partnership on Monday February 12, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the South Huron Recreation Centre (94 Victoria Street East, Exeter) for an interactive community workshop focused on newcomer inclusion in South Huron.
The workshop will include an insightful presentation from Rana Telfah, PhD, focused on rural newcomer inclusion and findings of a study focused on newcomers’ first impressions of Exeter.
Collectively, attendees will identify actions that can be taken to help newcomers feel included and like they belong in our community as well as identify potential long-term actions that could strengthen newcomer integration.
What will you takeaway from the workshop to support newcomers in South Huron?
Please RSVP to the workshop no later than Wednesday February 7, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. by completing the sign up form: https://forms.southhuron.ca/Clerks-Department/South-Huron-Newcomer-Networking-Event
